Immersion in historical fiction satisfies

Before ice out, Kempenfelt Bay, Barrie, Ontario

I’ve been writing since I was a university student. After my kids were in university, I decided it was my turn to pursue my ambitions and focus on writing fiction full-time. In 2022, I established Cavalarico Books and published a book of poetry. In 2023, I published a debut novel. Now, I’m working on a sequel and another book of poetry.

I’m very happy with the direction in which I’m now heading. I enjoy the research, the immersion in history and creativity, and the travel to locations in my stories. I think of my writing career as a life-long journey, and certainly from my perspective, it is an adventure.

But, why?

Why do I see the world as I do? My vision is all part of the mystery of my life that I am gradually getting to the bottom of. It began at age six, I believe, when my father died. I found it hard to believe in a God that would allow that to happen to my Dad. My quest to understand the meaning of life, over time, leads me back to the fertile ground of storytelling and the immersion in fiction that brings to life the times and events that are important in our lives.
